Connecting Google Sheets (step-by-step)
FormHouse has a direct Google Sheets integration built in — no third-party tools required. This guide walks you through setting it up.
If you prefer to use Zapier instead (e.g. you want to filter submissions or send to multiple apps), see our separate "Connecting FormHouse to Zapier" guide and choose Google Sheets as your action app.
────────────────────────────────────
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
────────────────────────────────────
• A published FormHouse form
• A FormHouse account (any plan)
• A Google account with access to Google Sheets
────────────────────────────────────
STEP 1: Open your form's Integrations
────────────────────────────────────
1. Sign in to FormHouse at www.formhouse.cc
2. Go to your dashboard
3. Click on the form you want to connect
4. Click the "Integrations" tab
────────────────────────────────────
STEP 2: Connect Google Sheets
────────────────────────────────────
1. Find "Google Sheets" in the integrations list
2. Click "Connect"
3. A Google authorization window will pop up
4. Sign in with your Google account if you aren't already
5. Click "Allow" to grant FormHouse permission to manage your spreadsheets
6. You'll be returned to FormHouse
Note: FormHouse only requests permission to manage spreadsheets — nothing else in your Google account.
────────────────────────────────────
STEP 3: Choose your spreadsheet
────────────────────────────────────
1. Select an existing spreadsheet from the dropdown, OR
2. Click "Create new spreadsheet" and give it a name
3. Choose which worksheet/tab to use (default: Sheet1)
4. Click Continue
────────────────────────────────────
STEP 4: Map your columns
────────────────────────────────────
1. You'll see a list of your form's fields (Name, Email, Property Type, etc.)
2. For each field, select which spreadsheet column it should go in
3. If your spreadsheet has headers in row 1, FormHouse will detect them automatically
4. Click "Save mapping"
5. Each new submission will be appended as a new row with your mapped fields plus the submission ID, timestamp, and AI score
────────────────────────────────────
STEP 5: Test it
────────────────────────────────────
1. Submit your form with test data (open your form link and fill it in)
2. Check your Google Sheet — a new row should appear within a few seconds
3. If it doesn't appear, check the Integrations tab for error messages
────────────────────────────────────
WHAT DATA GETS SENT
────────────────────────────────────
Each new submission creates one row in your spreadsheet containing:
• All form answers (with readable labels — e.g. "House" not "opt_0")
• Respondent email
• Submission ID
• Timestamp
• AI score (if scoring is enabled)
• Score summary and rationale (if scoring is enabled)
────────────────────────────────────
TROUBLESHOOTING — DIRECT INTEGRATION
────────────────────────────────────
• "No row appearing" — Check the Integrations tab for error messages. Make sure your form is published (live). Try disconnecting and reconnecting Google Sheets.
• "Columns mismatched" — Re-open the Integrations tab and re-map your columns. If you renamed columns in the sheet, update the mapping to match.
• "Authorization expired" — Google access tokens expire periodically. FormHouse refreshes them automatically, but if reconnection is needed, just click "Connect" again.
• "Duplicate rows" — Each submission has a unique ID. The integration uses this to prevent duplicates. If you see duplicates, check that you don't have both the direct integration AND a Zapier Zap running for the same form.
• "Old submissions showing opt_0" — This was fixed in the July 2026 update. New submissions will show readable labels like "House". Old rows already in your sheet can't be retroactively changed.
────────────────────────────────────
USING ZAPIER INSTEAD
────────────────────────────────────
If you want to filter submissions (e.g. only send high-score leads), format data before it reaches the sheet, or send the same submission to multiple destinations, use Zapier instead. See the "Connecting FormHouse to Zapier" guide in this help center, and choose "Google Sheets" → "Create Spreadsheet Row" as your action.
Don't use both the direct integration and a Zapier Zap for the same form — pick one to avoid duplicate rows.
